As part of a major growth drive in the UK, the Board of Schoen Clinic – a Carlyle Group portfolio investment – sought a Managing Director for their UK Operations. As the number one leadership position in the UK, this was deemed an absolutely critical hire for the group, and as a result saw Compass Executives retained for the assignment in September 2019.

Schoen Clinic approached Compass Executives off the back of reading our successful work within the Private Acute and Mental Healthcare markets. Given the specificity of the brief, they required a partner with granular sector knowledge – which Compass Executives could evidence in abundance, along with a network of individuals who possessed their desired expertise.

The search was undertaken on a highly confidential basis. A targeted piece of research was conducted concurrent to Compass Executives using their sector network. From an extensive initial target list, 15 individuals were shared as part of a ‘longlist review session’ and four subsequently chosen for interview.

Timely and consistent communication was critical to achieving a timely placement, and a unanimous appointment was made in early November 2019.

As a result of the outstanding placement made for the UK MD, Compass Executives were later mandated the role of a UK FD who would be responsible for leading on all aspects of financial performance based on the planned and anticipated growth in line with the wider business strategy.

Compass Executives were able to draw upon our extensive network of Finance professionals as part of the UK FD search – which meant that the entire process was completed in less than 6 weeks.
