About the Client

Our client is an operator of special educational needs schools in the UK with many of their pupils having Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The business is majority-owned by funds managed by an award-winning private equity investor focused on investment opportunities into asset-backed operating businesses with downside protection.

About the Non-Executive Director Role

We are looking for an ambitious Non-Executive Director to help achieve the organisation’s vision and strategic goals. We are looking for someone who could work well with the Management Team, providing an impartial independent point of view at board meetings and contribute to the successful positioning of the business for growth and eventual exit.

Skills/Experience Required

• Attend board meetings (c.10 a year) and allocate time outside of board meetings to work with Management and Investor (c.2 days per month on an ad hoc basis).
• Provide an independent assessment of the ongoing operating performance of the business.
• Provide an impartial assessment of the growth strategy and individual acquisition opportunities.
• Suitably identify their perceived business risks and suggest measures to mitigate such risks.
• Provide challenge where necessary but also work alongside management to implement the business strategy as approved by the Board.
• Mentor members of management, aiding their growth and performance.
