The Person

This is a wonderful opportunity to lead an organisation that aims to offer life-changing treatment for young autistic children and provide distinctive meaningful support to their parents and carers. As Chair you will believe in the huge potential within each autistic child, and will deeply resonate with Transforming Autisms mission, values and particular understanding of and approach to autism. You are likely to have extensive personal experience of at least one (ideally both) of charity governance and autism.  A large relevant personal network and an ability to fundraise would be extremely beneficial. As Chair you will act as an ambassador and the public face of the charity in partnership alongside the Chief Executive.

The role:

The Chair will hold the Board and Executive Team to account for the charity’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity. You will also support, and, where appropriate, challenge the Chief Executive and ensure that the Board functions as a unit and works closely with the entire Executive of the charity to achieve agreed objectives.

Time Commitment:

Transforming Autism is a young charity and therefore at this stage will need significant input from its Chair. The Chair is expected to have regular conversations and meetings with the Chief Executive, and to represent the charity at various events and meetings with key stakeholders

Founder and CEO, Guy Shahar’s TED Talk outlines their approach to autism and gives some details on the treatment offered.
